Frequently Asked Questions

Please review frequently asked questions below. If you don't see the answer to your question, feel free to email us at  or set up a FREE Discovery Call here

What should I expect in my FREE discovery call?

At your initial consultation you will be given an opportunity to discuss your personal health goals with an intake member of our team. This will be an opportunity for you and our staff to identify if you are a good candidate for our services. You can discuss with the intake coordinator if you have existing labs and they will advise you whether these are relevant or recent enough for us to use. We are very specific on functional lab testing because this affects programs and outcomes.

How much does an initial consultation cost? And what will my program cost?

The initial consultation is $325 payable at the time of scheduling. Program costs vary based on how long you have been suffering and the complexity of what may be involved. We are currently moving towards programs rather than a la carte consultation charges because this is helpful for both clients and ourselves.  Our Office Manager can prepare a quote for your program at the end of your paid initial consultation.  We offer different payment plans depending on what works best for you and your budget.

What should I do before my initial consultation?

All intake documentation needs to be completed 48 hours before your appointment so we can review your documents. If you have current lab testing you would like reviewed, please include with your docs. You cannot ask us to review any documents on the day of your appointment.

Do you accept insurance for Functional medicine services?

We do not accept insurance or Medicare for our consulting services. You are required to pay in full at the time of scheduling your appointment and orders for labs and product are payable at the time of order.

Does your office offer a la carte lab testing?

We work with our client's budgets as much as possible but we will not work with single lab testing. We have a minimum requirement for lab testing upfront since this is the entire premise of functional medicine and the results you are seeking for your health.  Expectations of cost will be discussed in your free discovery call.

Are my labs covered by medical insurance?

Functional lab testing is usually not covered by medical insurance because we are focused on function not illness. We are a 100% cash pay practice and do not work with any insurance.  Functional Medicine is a cost effective form of medicine. There is an upfront investment but you can save oodles of time, money, productivity and quality of life over the long term. We have been conditioned to expect insurance to pay for our healthcare. So we outsourced our health to other entities. Functional Medicine is about taking back control of your health and your priorities of expenditure for greater health, happiness and lifestyle.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept Visa, Mastercard, cash or check. Checks must clear our bank before services are provided.

Can I use my HSA  or FSA account?

Yes, you may be able to.  Check with your HR department to be sure.

What are your office hours?

our office hours are Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm MT.

Do I still need a primary physician?

We require you to have a primary care physician. We are not medical providers.  We do not treat, mitigate, or provide treatment for any diseases.  We are a functional health practice only.  We provide a stand-alone service.

Does your practice accept clients in other countries?

We unfortunately only work with clients in the United States.  We do work with with every state with some restrictions. Please ask about this in your discovery call.

How much should I budget for functional lab testing?

You should budget between $750 and $1500 for labs.  These costs are not included in your consultation fees.  You will need to retest after six months.

Will I be able to talk to the practitioner between consults?

You will be able to email the practitioner. If your questions are simple and related to the consults, they will be answered within 24 - 48 hours. You will be notified if you require a full follow up consultation. We do offer 15 minute email check in consultations that relate to questions  you have about your current program.

Can I purchase products online elsewhere?

We recommend products from high quality and reputable manufacturers that are backed by studies relating to your program.  The health plans we prepare have specific dosages based on the exact ingredients of the specific supplements. Not all ingredients are equal, and we can't verify quality or results when you purchase elsewhere. A few pennies less can jeopardize your results.

If I live close to the practice, can I be seen in person?

No, we are a virtual consulting practice only. We use a HIPAA compliant video conference system for consultations. Lab and products are delivered directly to your home. You can consult with us from the comfort of your home, car or even your office. No need to get stressed by sitting in traffic and being late for your appointment.

Will I speak with the practitioner in the Free Call?

We are a busy clinic and Clare Kelway has limited availability for free calls. However, at certain times, she does conduct the discovery calls. If Clare doesn't conduct the call, then you will speak with our intake coordinator. Free discovery calls are a chance to discuss services and the best approach for your health. They are not clinical calls and we do not offer any health advice in these calls.

Is Clare Kelway an MD?

No, Clare Kelway is not an MD. Clare is a homeopath and a certified Functional Medicine practitioner. We require you to have a primary care physician. She has over 20 years of clinical experience and continues to develop her professional training in Metabolic Health topics every year. Working with Clare does not constitute a doctor-patient relationship. See our Terms and Conditions for further information on this.

What is Clare Kelway's clinical style?

Clare is a compassionate empathetic practitioner. This comes from her own experiences as well as training. Clare has experienced infertility, family alcoholism, immigration, motherhood, autoimmunity, divorce and widowhood. She has reversed her own conditions and found her calling in helping other women take back control of their heath.

Are all appointments done via video conferencing?

The free discovery call is via phone.  All other appointments are done via zoom. If you need to call in, you can.  You will be sent a link at the time of scheduling.

How does the lab testing work?

The lab testing is typically done at home. In some instances you might have to get blood work done. We will direct you to the lab that coordinates that. Many of the tests have shipping included in the cost of the kits, if not you will be responsible for the shipping. You will get instructions in more detail on how to do the test kits and the kits come with clear instructions as well. We will provide a quote at the start of your program so you know what it will cost before you get started on your program.
