18 Questions you must ask before Scheduling your Functional Medicine Appointment

What brought me to Functional Medicine?

My journey to Functional Medicine started on a foggy November morning in Surrey, England. For years, I had been suffering a wide range of digestive issues, immune problems and overall exhaustion. What I didn’t know was that I was suffering from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. My doctors just thought I was faking it because after doing all the normal blood testing at the time, they couldn’t find anything wrong so they suggested I take an anti-depressant and I’d feel better. This story is so common it is truly scary. Women are ignored by medical doctors even today and it just has to stop!

After a move to Colorado coincided with the arrival of menopause, I found myself diagnosed with Grave’s Disease, a metabolic issue closely related to chronic fatigue syndrome. Grave’s is a condition of hyperthyroidism and CFS is a condition of adrenal fatigue. Your adrenals and thyroid are 2 vital parts of your endocrine system and closely related.

I had always thought that since I was slender and that I could eat more than my peers without any concerns, this meant that I was healthy. How wrong I was. I was actually in a catabolic state. Over the next 2 decades, I was to learn just how damaged my metabolism actually was.

My journey brought me to functional medicine and root cause medicine.

You can learn more about my story here. I specialize today in helping women get the real empathetic help they need with hormone imbalances, gut health and detox or metabolic issues.

What are my qualifications?

I went from burned out corporate executive to trained holistic healthcare professional. After discovering my passion for health and helping women, I achieved my Diploma in Homeopathic Practice back in 2003. I was Awarded the Samuel Hahnemann International Award for Homeopathic Services in 2004. I then became a Fellow of the British Institute of Homeopathy.

Since then, I have certified in Bio Energetic Medicine. Kinesiology and more recently, I completed the Functional Medicine Mentorship program with the Kalish Institute. My passion for helping reverse chronic conditions for women has taken me across the globe and spending much of my spare time researching and studying at great cost. It is this kind of dedication to health that characterizes the best in Functional Medicine.

I have had the opportunity to consult with thousands of clients in my clinics since 2004. Today I lead my women’s virtual consulting practice from Erie, Colorado.

My journey to Functional Medicine has not been simple nor has it been easy. In 2021, I am adding a clinical nutrition graduate program to my training so I can be US Board certified in nutrition. I am exactly where I am meant to be – helping creative women over 40 years old with their hormones, gut health, detoxification pathways and metabolism.
