Choosing a Network Marketing Opportunity can be challenging. Let me start by sharing that I changed companies last year after 7 years and a lot of soul-searching. So what are the 6 keys that I considered when choosing my new network marketing opportunity?
I start with upline leadership as the most important factor when choosing a network marketing company.
For me, having the best mentor and coach is critically important.
“If you want to become a 7 figure earner, you need to model yourself on those who are already there. “
I considered their track records, their style of leadership and their support systems. I chose upline leadership that is rated in the top 25 network marketers in the world.
They have shared stages with Tony Robbins, Pitbull, Mel Robbins, Richard Branson, Brendon Burchard and network marketing legends.
However, the most important factor for me is their style of leadership which is about loving people and meeting them where they are at. Their mantra is to love people and then love more! This is the style that hooked me.
Secondly, when choosing a network marketing opportunity, I looked at the products. I am passionate about amazing health products.
However, not everyone shares my passion for health but everyone has a need for additional streams of income. I came from a company with a single technology. That was great when I was starting. But over time, I came to realize that it limited my ability to recruit people. If they didn’t like the technology, then they weren’t going to join me in business.
The company I joined has many products across a number of vertical markets. And the products are extremely high quality and effective. They are also priced competitively.
What I love about this, is that there is something for everyone and you can swap places you currently shop and get paid to do so.
If you love health, then there are health products.
If you love coffee, then there are beautiful organic, Fair-trade coffee products.
Whether you love essential oils, make-up, spa products or financial products for companies – there is something you can get behind and get obsessed about.
You can attract people interested in different markets to your team.
Thirdly when choosing a network marketing company, you want to research the corporate executive team and leadership. What is their management’s background? Google them.
How long have they been in network marketing?
The company I partner with has a very experienced management team. They have network marketing backgrounds which are important because network marketing is a special kind of business model with different challenges from other business models.
Now, what about the compensation plan?
How important is this to choosing a network marketing company?
How do you get paid to promote their products? Whatever type of compensation plan, the ultimate total payout by the company is usually between 30% and 50% of their revenue.
There are some plans that are more favorable to recruiters and others that favor the big leaders with additional bonuses.
Personally, I like a company to help people who work, from the new distributor to the seasoned leader.
There are responsibilities to lead and these should be rewarded based on activity.
How financially transparent is the company? I like listed companies because they have to report to their shareholders and investors. It keeps corporate governance transparent.
How old should a company be before joining them? Many people promote start-ups as the greatest opportunity. However, many businesses fail in their first years.
And I personally didn’t want to join another startup.
I was looking for an established business with great growth and future potential. The company I joined is over 20 years old but in so many ways is like a brand new company.
They are innovators and constantly evolving. This made them very attractive to me as an opportunity I could partner with long-term.
The company culture is a very important key when choosing a network marketing company.
Is the culture aggressively business or only product focused?
I like a balance of focused growth and customer-friendly products.
How friendly is the company?
What type of community is there?
Does the company that loves to have fun. Fun needs to be part of the culture.
Is there a competitive spirit?
What about philanthropy?
Social responsibility is critically important to company culture today.
The company I am partnered with has a great Foundation and they promote days of random acts of kindness. Their compassion and love for helping others are embedded in their culture.
Lastly, one of the most wonderful surprises I have found with my new company is seeing the executive corporate team on Facebook participating in groups and pages.
They recognize the distributors all the time and participate actively in the field. It is very appealing and you know that community starts with them. Many distributors when asked why they are in our company, answer that it is our community.
