Why do we need to learn to sell?
My friend and fellow Mastermind to Wealth participant, Tony Durso answers this question and so much more in his great book called ” The Black Book of Sales Secrets”.
Every person needs to learn how to sell whether this is a key feature of your career or not. Learning to sell can increase your confidence, communication skills and your income!
It is puzzling to me why many network marketing leaders say that network marketing is not a sales business and you don’t need to learn how to sell.
To persuade and influence a person is to know how to sell and our industry requires a lot of persuasive skills!
You have to know how to sell yourself to get a job. You have to know how to sell yourself when you want a date. Young scouts have to know sales skills when they go door-to-door selling cookies for fund-raising.
We all have to know how to sell so why not read a book that will succinctly and quickly share tips and strategies on sales techniques?
This is exactly what Tony Durso has written. It is a easy-to-read guide on various aspects of sales including selling yourself online. As I am an online marketer, this is a topic very close to my heart. Sell yourself, not your products and services. People want to do business with you, not your product. Having got to know you, they may well be interested in what you are promoting but this should not be your first introduction.
The Black Book of Sales Secrets is dedicated to teaching anybody how to generate high interest in just about anything.
Tony Durso has achieved record breaking sales in a variety of industries including real estate, insurance, technology, and collectibles among others.
A few small changes to your sales strategy and technique could help you become the next big producer for your company!

The ability to adjust your approach to different people and situations is one of the key in our success.
Even in blogging, when you are sharing it on the social networks and engaging, you really are trying to sell to people “come read my blog”. It is the same as any business and I tell people that a lot. Most bloggers who eventually monetize their website, even if they are not a registered business… they are still bringing in money and have to pay taxes on those, thus they are a business.

Clare,
I believe that everybody is at some stage or another inevitably ends up selling something or themselves.
Having people know you first and them trusting you is definitely the way to go when you are promoting your business as when they trust you they trust your business….
Irene,
We are no doubt selling ourselves every day we live either to our families or our work place! As an entrepreneur, I love mastermind groups because this builds trust in a positive way with others and builds reputation as you grow your business.
Thanks for your valued comment. I appreciate you!
Clare
Clare,
We are selling all the time… yet it’s interesting how most people don’t understand that. Knowing how to “sell” ourselves is a key skill to learn… and one that definitely can be learned.
Thanks so much for the resource tip,

Clare, I agree with you. Sales is important in life. No matter what you do. Unfortunately, it is not my strong suite. I have read many books about selling and worked with many true sales people. I have learned a lot and gotten better at it over time, but it will never be “fun” for me. That is why I am so grateful for social media. I can talk about my passions for hours without a problem, without ever feeling the urge to throw in a sales pitch. And it has attracted many clients….
Karin, you are right about social media – I like it for the same reason but caution everyone that finally you still have to close. No matter how friendly you are with people, you have to close with reasons why their pain will be removed by taking action ( the action you want them to take of course).
